  • '60's Benelli Motorcycle...

    I just cannot say no...

Friend gave me a late '60's maybe early '70's Montgomery Ward Sport 450 motorcycle by Benelli. It is a 50cc, 2 stroke, 4 speed and needs a lot of work as it is complete as in the mechanicals are almost completely in boxes.

I am confident in being able to get the motor running, and frame and suspension functional, but will need some help with the transmission.

Figured if anywhere would have some knowledge of these, here may.

Anyone have any experience with these or know anyone who does or maybe a shop with a sense of humor?

The transmissions are pretty easy. If you can scare up a parts list on the inter web you can just follow the photos.

So, I found those and one look at that transmission diagram and the box of gears and roller bearings is why I'm calling in the Cavalry!

My first motorcycle was a basket case, a 71 Kawasaki 350 cafe racer, twin 2 stroke. Lucky for me the tranny was undisturbed.

once I got past the 2002 and the Benelli, I noticed the decorative carpet runners, for that 'home-y' touch.

Only the best Orientals for my fleet.....that and the fact that my close Rover friend, also on this forum, gets rid of his old carpets by sneaking them under my cars.
