  • Frelling HOT!

It got up to 112F today, Not supposed to be this hot around here, most I've ever seen before was 104, 2-4 more days of it. 2300 and it's 77F, cooling to a low of 68F. My floor is hot, no AC, the fan is in the window to suck the cooler outside air in. Ha, I just checked only 8 more degrees and we equal Badwater Basin in Death Valley.

Wow! That's hot. Good luck staying cool. Is it time to invest in a window AC yet?

Yesterday's high forcast by the NWS was for 108 and I had 112, today is for 112, will I get 117?

I can't afford to buy or run an AC. Plus the energy company is warning of rotating brown outs.

It's all 'cause of all those diesel Land Rovers running around out there!

I hear ya',,,, I had to google earth Boulder Creek, 'cause i thought it might be one of those quaint euphamisims for a trickle draining down into the Salton Sea....

And if the state gets just *one more* A/C, the whole grid might just collapse.

As a resourceful guy - all Rover owners are, by definition - research "swamp coolers". These things need little or no electrical input, but can still cool things - especially if the humidity is low. Basically, air is drawn through a saturated membrane - like a burlap gunny sack - with one side immersed in a tray of water.

I've been contemplating hanging old blankets on the sunny side of the house and soaking them with water once or twice a day while the sun is on them. Kinda like useful interpositioning in chess.

It was 96 here today. Supposed to be around 83. We've got three more days of mid 90s before some relief. I thought it was September, not July. WTH!

Build some swamp coolers? The humidity has to be low enough for them to work there.

Maybe too late a suggestion, but you're a clever fabricator. Did you think of making one of these?

Now it's 58F and I've had 3/4" of rain, less that a tenth was forecast. and the right rear corner on my 109 roof still leaks............
