Digging in the pole barn I found a gallon of Bronze Green that was purchased in 1988. It was never opened. Opened it up and spent 30 minutes stirring it up. All the green had settled on the bottom. Looks like we will have usable paint.



This appears to be the mix formula.

I think the same. The only issue is on the label I can read "contains lead".

We will be extra careful and use our PPE.

Tested the paint with brush on a couple parts.



Color looks good to me, but would add a 7th shade of green unless the whole vehicle is painted.

These parts were brushed. Will probably need a sand and repaint. More digging in the barn and found ...


Looks like everything needed for a repaint. Now just have to decide if it is sprayed, rolled or Coach brush. Have lots to do before that decision is made.

I have sprayed a gang of Centari in my time. I always sprayed a medium coat and let it flash until really tacky. Then hit it with a fairly wet second coat and with that high gloss harder it will flow for quite some time the result will be a really smooth paint finish. Very durable too. I painted a swimming pool sliding board with the Pontiac Snowbird light blue Centari and 30 years later it still looked excellent.

That might as well be written in Greek. I have never mixed and sprayed. My idea of a spray paint job is limited to rattle cans.

Have not been doing my 15 minutes a day. Work, life, vacation and maintenance on other vehicles have been a priority.

Today was a rare, abnormal, beautiful October day. I took advantage of the weather, and my better half being out of state and pushed off lawn and leaf duties to spray the inside of the frame with Eastwood's interior frame spray paint.

Then gave the frame a coat of black tractor paint brushed on. This is on top of the unknown coating that the frame came with, two coats of rust inhibitor primer and one coat of spray tractor paint.

Hoping this will stave off the rust belt winter salt baths for a few years.

Time to start adding to the newer frame.

I've been picking away at smalls on the project. Lots of other life stuff too. Have the newer rear axle housing prepped to be rebuilt. Pulled the diff off the old axle last night. The internals looked great even after sitting for 8 years.

Today I'm hoping the electrolysis rust removal works with temps near freezing. Thinking it should be a slower process, but time will tell.


Having trouble loading a picture, but the diff is sitting in my tub with no water getting in,, hopefully all the exterior gunk and rust will be gone when the new seals arrive.

Tried to remove the nut that holds the bevel pinion driving flange today. Didn't go well.

The diff is loosely fit on the housing. It just wants to spin. Used a large phillips to try and hold it in place. I can move the whole housing off the stands and two of us are holding it in place. Tried both an electric impact and a 2' breaker bar. Even bent a #3 Craftsman Phillips.

Just looking to replace the pinion seal and gasket.

Should I just wait until the hubs, axles and wheels are on so the diff won't spin?

Probably much easier to do in situ. Just don’t put oil in the diff until you do.

Was able to put the diff, hubs and axles on over the weekend. No leaks yet because there is no oil!

Yesterday was interesting, at 9:30 it was 52 and 30mph winds with gusts up to 50. At noon it was 33 and spitting snow. Not fun cleaning old grease off and packing bearings when your fingers are freezing.

Today was better, 44 and very little wind. Still couldn't get the nut off the pinion, but it is nice to make progress.

Planning on doing the brakes when the whole system can be completed at once. Less chance of moisture in the lines and cylinders.
