It is possible but not much fun. I would pull the bulkhead, pull the engine and trans and then reinstall the bulkhead.

Great at to see my Rover is being environmentally friendly even while being rebuilt. A safe harbor for mud wasps.

While spending 1.5 hours getting the 4 bolts to thread into the frame for the steering relay securing flange, I thought about some recent posts about sealing the floor panels with plumbers putty or rope caulk.

I decided to use a little rope putty when installing the steering relay. Maybe the next time it has to be removed it won't be such a pita to get out.

I have discovered some subtle differences between my old frame and my newer one.

One effects the lower mount of the E brake.








The bracket I'm holding in pick one bolts through the frame in pic two with two bolts. Pic three shows the lower actuator.

Apparently this would have a threaded rod that would mount through the bracket on my newer frame.

Options as I see it are
1- Cut off the existing frame bracket and drill two holes.
2- Acquire the correct pivot piece.
3- Try to source a bolt/ bushing that could fill the need

Any input from greater minds than mine?

The other differences I see are
1- the fuel line bracket to the frame won't match up. Pretty easy to solve imo. Pic above.

2- On the rear cross member there are two of these. Not sure of their purpose.

The ice cream cone things on the rear crossmember are the tailgate hinge pivots.

Much easier to buy the parking brake pivot pin/nut/washer than to cut off the bracket and drill the frame.

Agreed, I did some searching late last night and saw the pivot bolt was available.

Last Wednesday my better half started feeling poor. Out of caution I took Thursday and Friday off. On Thursday she tested positive.

Banged out many small projects while waiting for parts orders. Removed, tested, cleaned and painted the starter and generator. Pulled the fan, cleaned and painted. Many other smalls.


I have a old large Hunter window fan that I tore apart cleaned and oiled. I runs great again. It is mounted on an old furniture dolly and helps keep me cooler and keeps the bugs that bite away.

Horn is working great, but the cap had a big crack in the cover. Did a JB Weld patch and painted it.

Removed the handbrake, cleaned de-rusted as required. In prep for replacing the rear output seal. Discovered that new pads are required.


On Saturday one of my orders arrived. Break lines, seals and a few other bits.


Was able to get the old seal out with only a few four letter words and the new seal installed. Willing to wait for new pads to reassemble.

Was going to replace the front output seal when I discovered there was another wasp nest in the bulkhead outrigger. Right where I would be working. I been stung twice prior this summer and not trying for more. I managed to kill two that I know. Time will tell.

On Sunday I was feeling like I had one too many Bourbons the night before. Went out and did a small weld repair on my tractor deck. Sat looking for more wasps as I continued to feel worse. No wasps seen, no work done and tested positive for covid.

Monday another delivery arrived, but it has not been touched.


I've slept about 48 hours in the last 68 hours. Starting to feel better. But not good enough to do any project tasks.
