Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Just bought me another Land Rover a 1970 gasser. Been out of the rover business about 30 years, but never got rid of the itch. I previously had a 1965 and a 1967 Series 2A 88" diesels. I'll probably have a lot of questions, but this seems the place to come for the answers. I'll be posting some items for sale in the Parts section as my new Rover came with a lot of extra parts and pieces. I already have a couple of questions. I have an oil pressure gauge that isn't working and the oil light on the gauge cluster isn't either. I have a spin on oil filter and above the filter is a wire I'm assuming is for the oil pressure light or gauge. Any thoughts on troubleshooting? Also I have in the parts pile a heater coil that I'm wondering what type of heater it goes with? It seems intact and holds pressure. Also, I'm looking for toolbox that mounts under the middle seat. I'm up for trades if you see anything your interested in when i post pictures in the Parts section.

Welcome, once bitten by the Rover bug, you can never be cured. The wire is for the oil light, the heater coil looks like it goes to a Kodiak heater.

Welcome. You'll be happy to hear that not a thing has changed in the 30 years you've been away from Series rovers (except that QUALITY parts are getting more scarce).

I imagine that the big pressure transducer supplies oil pressure readings to the gauge and the small switch works the light. The light is probably just a matter of grounding the wire to it and checking if the light illuminates. The transducer is probably a matter of putting an ohm meter on it and checking readings before and after the engine is running (presuming the adapter is on correctly and not backwards).

This is a pattern for the tool tray under the centre seat, it was made up by one of the members on the board here, just a matter of cutting and folding and tack weld.

Welcome. While the drawing is nice for those competent with a metal brake and welder. For people like me, they have them pre-made at Rover's North for not a terrible amount of money.

I made mine with a piece of angle iron, clamps, a hammer and pop rivets. The metal was an old aluminum sign I found, cut with my first tin snips.
