Just returned from a 935 km road trip... and nothing happened. I know right. I can't explain it either. The 88 ran great and never missed a beat. Mississauga to 3 Brothers in Paris then onward to Grand Bend for the day with about 10 other Land Rovers. From there I headed north up the shore of Lake Huron and onto the Bruce Peninsula, then up to Tobermory. Spent a couple days at Cyprus Lake campground and then south again heading home, sticking mostly to back roads. The Series 3 seemed to be in it's elements on this trip and returned a respectable 29.64 mpg (Imperial gal) or 9.53 L/100 km Canadian. I was impressed.

Looks like a great trip!
Interesting firewood hauler…Do tell!
Looks like tailgate latch rings modified to serve as anchor points for the chain, platform hinged to bottom of tailgate itself or maybe to the tailgate hinges?
Whatever the arrangement, it’s pretty clever.--Mark

Cool trip, thanks for the write up and pics. The colors in the shoreline pics, particularly the pic of the cave, the color of the water is beautiful. Thanks for posting.
I come across pics of trucks or modifications to trucks that I think are really nice and/or great ideas. I had saved this from somewhere.

Well, I’ll try to get this back on track…It doesn’t say—are the waterside pics from that National Park on that narrow peninsula? Has more of a “Canadian Maritimes” feel.
That narrow peninsula is called the Bruce Peninusla. Lake Huron is on the west and Georgian Bay is on the east side. The pics taken in the national park on the cliffs and the rocky shore were all on the Georgian Bay side. It's funny, the Huron side is warm and shallow along the shore while the bay side is cold and deep. The little town at the tip of the peninsula is called Tobermory and known as the "shipwreck capital of Canada". There are 22 sunken wrecks up there so it is a divers paradise. There is also a hiking trail that runs 550 miles down the east side of the peninsula from Tobermory to near Niagara Falls called the Bruce Trail. The most spectacular part of the trail is the 50 south of Tobermory as it meanders on and below the escarpment along the Georgian Bay side. It's extremely rugged. The first time I did it I was 15 years old and it almost did me in. Hiked it two more times before I was 20 but I have my doubts I could do it today with a heavy backpack on.
The east and west coasts of Canada have the lions share of spectacular scenery but Ontario has it's moments.
